Nomad are a private medical organisation, who are specialists in Travel Health. We are a small, but mighty, team based across, Dublin, London, Manchester, Cardiff & Bristol. We have a range of travel health clinics lead by nurses across the UK, with a head office function based mainly remotely, but hybrid in the office from London, Manchester and Dublin. Nomad is a 32 year old company, who have recently teamed with Masta clinics – to become a huge player in the UK Travel Health market.

Lead/Deputy Lead Travel Health Nurse or Pharmacist

The Role

The role requires you to be responsible for the overall management of a Nomad travel clinic location. You will lead your small, but mighty, team of nurses and clinic support administrators.
You will complete daily comprehensive travel health consultations administering risk assessments, health advice, vaccinations, malaria prophylaxis, medical kits and other travel related medicines within the framework of Nomad Patient Group Directions. You will maintain accurate client records on Nomad’s record system and manage bookings. The role requires a good communicator – you will be the link between your clinic team and the clinical operations manager. As Lead Nurse, you will manage the day-to-day running of your clinic and will be expected to continually deliver a high standard of customer service to Nomad clients while maintaining safe clinical services.

You’ll be required to comply with NMC Code of Professional Conduct and to read, understand and follow guidelines and standards of practice as set out in Nomad policies. Working towards expected levels of practice as per the RCN Travel Health competencies and development framework 2018 and used within context of meeting revalidation requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide travel health risk assessments and advice to B2B and B2C clients in the travel clinic
  • Administration of vaccines, antimalarial tablets, medical kits and medicines under a signed Delegation of Authority according to the Patient Group Directives for Nomad
  • Reporting of any adverse effects of vaccines to the Medical Operations Manager
  • Advising ‘high risk’ clients; appropriately liaising with Nomad’s Doctor/Head Pharmacist when required
  • Disseminating information to the Clinical Nurse Trainer, Medical Operations Manager or other senior support staff

Qualifications and registrations:

  • Essential: current registration with NMC
  • Essential: current a qualification in Registered Nursing
  • Essential: Current GPhC registration
  • Essential: Vaccination experience and Flu training

  • Desirable: Foundation/ Diploma in Travel Medicine
  • Desirable: Interest in travelling / travel health
  • Desirable: Independent prescribing qualification
