Do I need a COVID test to fly to Portugal?

One of our most favoured European holiday spots, Portugal has been moved to the to the UK Amber List for travel. Travel to Portugal for holidays & recreation is not recommended, and there are some requirements you must follow if you do need to travel for essential reasons.. COVID-19 Entry Requirements for Portugal

Currently, there are restrictions on travelling to Portugal from England & Scotland. You must show a negative PCR test result for COVID-19 at the time of boarding to travel to Portugal. The test must have been taken within 72 hours of departure. COVID-19 Requirements for Returning from Portugal

Before you travel to England from Portugal, there are several steps to take in your travel preparation. The testing requirements depend on your vaccination status.

Rules for arriving from Portugal if you’re fully vaccinated

You must take a COVID test locally in Portugal before departure, you must order & pay for a Day 2 post-travel test, and you must complete a passenger locator form. Fully vaccinated passengers returning from Portugal are not required to quarantine post-travel.

‘Fully vaccinated’ means you must have had a final dose of an approved vaccine at least 14 whole days before you arrive in England. The day you have your final dose does not count as one of the 14 days.

Rules for arriving from Portugal if you’re not fully vaccinated

You must take a COVID test locally in Portugal before departure, you must order & pay for a Day 2 & Day 8 post-travel testing, and you must complete a passenger locator form. As an Amber List country, psseners returning from Portugal that are not fully vaccinated are required to quarantine post-travel for 10 days.
